How to clean baby hair brush

How to Clean Your Baby's Hairbrush (the Natural Way)

Keeping your baby's hairbrush clean is one of those little tasks that's easy to overlook - but it makes a real difference. Over time, brushes can collect natural oils, product residue, and loose hair, so a regular gentle clean helps keep things hygienic and the bristles in great condition.

Our Natural Baby Hairbrush is made with soft, baby-safe bristles and a beautiful wooden handle - so a little care goes a long way. Here's how to clean it properly.

How Often Should You Clean a Baby Hairbrush?

A quick tidy every week or so is usually plenty - removing any hair and fluff from the bristles takes just a moment. A deeper wash every couple of weeks will keep things fresh and hygienic, especially if you're using any hair or skin products alongside it.

What You'll Need

- A sink or bowl of warm water

- A mild baby wash (our Gentle Hair & Body Wash works perfectly)

- Your fingers or a wide-tooth comb

How to Clean a Baby Hairbrush: Step by Step

Step 1: Remove hair and build-up
Start by using your fingers or a wide-tooth comb to gently pull away any hair and visible residue from the bristles. Work from the base of the bristles upward to loosen any trapped debris.

Step 2: Prepare a gentle wash
Add a few drops of mild baby wash to a sink or bowl of warm water. Our Gentle Hair & Body Wash is ideal - it's free from harsh ingredients and gentle enough for newborn skin, so it's perfect for cleaning baby's accessories too.

Step 3: Wash the bristles
Swish the bristles through the soapy water, using your hands to gently work through them. There's no need to scrub - a light, circular motion is all it takes. Finish with a rinse under clean, cool water until all the soap is gone.

Step 4: Dry carefully
Gently shake off any excess water and lay the brush bristle-side down on a clean towel to air dry. This lets any remaining moisture drain away from the handle.

Important: Take care not to submerge the wooden handle in water. Prolonged exposure to moisture can cause the wood to warp, crack, or swell over time. A quick dip of the bristles is all you need.

Why Use a Mild Baby Wash?

Harsh soaps and detergents can be tough on natural bristles - and if any residue is left behind, you don't want it sitting near your baby's scalp. A gentle baby wash cleans effectively without stripping the bristles or leaving anything you wouldn't want on your little one's hair.

Caring for the Wooden Handle

Natural wood is beautiful but does need a little care. Avoid soaking, and make sure the brush is fully dry before storing it. Keeping it away from damp surfaces will help it last longer and stay looking lovely.
