Not v impressed really...

I have used the balm stick for over a year on my kids faces and loved it, so when we were nearly at the end of our tubes I bought a replacement. I was shocked to see however that there is now plastic in the packaging which I think is such an unnecessary addition and I'm quite disappointed. I was also v surprised at how small the tube is so compared it to the 'old' tube and was shocked to see the new tube was 13g but the same price as the 45g tube you previously sold?!

Hi Alice, so sorry you're not happy with the new packaging. Please let us explain why we've made these changes.

Ever since we launched the balm stick we’ve so often had the same feedback: our customers loved the balm, but didn’t think the cardboard tube was up to the task. We originally developed the push-up cardboard tube in 2019 in an effort to reduce plastic, but the overwhelming feedback was that once the cardboard weakened a lot of balm ended up being wasted.

Customers told us that the tube started to degrade as the balm absorbed into the cardboard, making it difficult to push the stick up and down, resulting in the balm being damaged.

To fix this, we’ve developed a hybrid twist-up stick. One which offers the durability of a plastic tube, but wherever possible substitutes unnecessary plastic with cardboard. This has resulted in a 52% saving in plastic compared with equivalent all-plastic versions on the market. At the end of its life the cardboard and plastic can be separated and recycled individually.

This change does mean that we’ve had to use less balm to make room for the new twist-up components inside the tube, but we believe that all of the balm will now be used – so no more throwing away the end of a messy, mushy stick that’s no longer fit for purpose.

Please be assured that we haven’t made these changes to improve our profit. In fact, the new hybrid packaging is a lot more expensive and the price of £8.99 fairly reflects the cost of producing, packaging and distributing this certified organic balm.

Ultimately, our aim is for you to have a much more user-friendly ‘twist up/twist down’ product so you can get on with soothing those chapped little cheeks without the mess and waste that so many people told us they experienced with the old packaging.

Best wishes, Team Kokoso

Love but disappointed in changes

Absolutely love the balm, it’s been a saviour for my little girls skin in winter but also to assist with her dry skin year round. Having just bought another balm (3rd one now), I am sorely disappointed that rather than 45g of product, I only have 13g for the same price and the packaging is no longer 100% recyclable. I love the product, but I am not a fan of the changes. I hope there is a rethink.

Love it!

I have used this range for both my babies, it smells delicious and it's super gentle on their skin. I also used the balm to clear baby acne on their faces and it was gone within days. I highly recommend this product to all my mum friends.
